About The Prieto Family
The Prieto Family office manages the private capital of the Philippines' Rufino-Prieto clan, a business dynasty long led by matriarch Marixi Rufino-Prieto. The family are prominent business owners and philanthropists in the Philippines, with Marixi Rufino-Prieto a former Forbes richest Filipina and media powerhouse behind the Philippine Daily Inquirer. The bulk of the wealth traces to media and real estate: best known for their stewardship of the Inquirer, the clan held ownership interests in the media company, but also hold interests in real estate and restaurants. The clan's business interests span real estate, wholesale and retail, freight forwarding, and media. In 2017 the family announced plans to fully divest from the Inquirer, which it had controlled for 25 years, in a sale of its majority stake to businessman Ramon Ang.
