The Koffler Group

The Koffler Group is the single family office of the Koffler family in Providence, Rhode Island, United States, established in the late 1970s. Its wealth originates with Sol Koffler, an immigrant who <cite index="4-4">arrived in the US from eastern Europe in 1920 at the age of 13</cite> and, at the depth of the Depression, founded the Providence luggage maker American Tourister (originally American Luggage Works). <cite index="4-4">Over the next 46 years he built American Tourister into the second largest luggage company in the country.</cite> The office was seeded from the family's exit: <cite index="0-1">after selling his business to the Hillenbrand Company for an undisclosed sum in 1978, Koffler had abundant liquid wealth, and he wanted to share it with his family.</cite> Now run by later generations, it manages a diversified investment portfolio, with assets put at roughly $100M by a third-party estimate.
