Leach Family Office

The Leach Family Office serves the interests of the Leach (Licht) family, one of Rhode Island's oldest industrial families, with interests in manufacturing, real estate, private equity, and technology. The family pioneered the conversion of industrial mill space into manufacturing incubator space in the 1930s and operated H. Leach Machinery Co., the National Chain Co., and the metals business A.J. Oster Co., later purchased by the Cookson Group of England. Based in Providence, United States, the office manages an estimated $100M, per a third-party estimate. Its real estate development arm, Leach Family Holdings, was established in 1994. Leach specializes in the ground-up development of big-box freestanding and anchored retail centers, serving as landlord to major retailers including Wal-Mart, Lowe's, The Home Depot, Stop & Shop, and Shaw's. It is chaired by James Hess Leach, and the family was the catalyst for converting a Superfund site in Stratford, Connecticut, the Raymark Site, a $120M brownfield cleanup.
