About Walter Financial
Walter Financial is the Montreal-based single family office of the Somers family, managing the family's interests across public and private markets. The family's wealth traces to Walter Surface Technologies, founded in 1952 by Walter J. Somers in the Montreal region, a metalworking and surface-treatment manufacturer. The Somers family sold control of Walter Surface Technologies to ONCAP in 2018 to focus on investment activities through Walter Financial, retaining a minority interest. At that point, Walter Financial had allocated over $240 million to its two dedicated internal private equity firms, Walter Capital Partners and Walter Global Asset Management.
