Kf Matheson

KF Matheson (KF Matheson Investment Holdings) is a privately owned Canadian single family office based in Vancouver. It manages the investments of Frank Baylis and Kris Shah, two long-standing Canadian business partners and accomplished medical device entrepreneurs. From 1989 until 2022, Baylis and Shah led Baylis Medical Company, a developer and manufacturer of medical devices in interventional cardiology and pain management — the source of the family wealth now held by the office. The firm follows an endowment model of asset allocation, deploying capital directly and alongside external managers, with an emphasis on patient-capital partnerships in the medical technology sector, including early- to mid-stage medical device companies. In April 2025 it co-led, with Desjardins Capital, a CA$43 million round for Puzzle Medical Devices, a Montreal startup developing a heart pump for patients with heart failure. Assets are put at roughly $100M on a third-party estimate.
