J Leon & Company Limited is the fourth-generation single family office of the Leon family, based in London (Hampstead). Founded in 1929, J Leon Group is a family office based in London, United Kingdom. The family's wealth was created between the two World Wars when the second generation started a chain of tobacco shops in southern England, with a J. Leon and Company kiosk soon found on the concourse of most railway stations and throughout London's emerging Underground system. In 1970, Imperial Tobacco acquired the family's shop distribution business, leaving the next generation with financial wherewithal, a portfolio of mixed-use properties, and a collection of UK-listed equities. The group's principal asset class is UK commercial property. Besides commercial property, the family office also invests in private equity, hedge funds and financial markets, with private equity conducted directly and indirectly through Iceni Capital. Assets under management are put at roughly $300M on a third-party estimate.
