Grupo Carso

Grupo Carso is a publicly traded Mexican conglomerate (BMV: GCARSO A1) majority-owned by the Slim family, with public minority shareholders and standard public-company disclosure — it is not a private single family office. Its holdings span industrial manufacturing, construction and infrastructure, retail, mining, and energy; the name "Carso" is a portmanteau of Carlos Slim and his late wife Soumaya. Carlos Slim Domit serves as chairman.

Slim-family control is exercised both directly and through Control Empresarial de Capitales, a private Mexico City holding company that holds family stakes across Grupo Carso, América Móvil, and Grupo Financiero Inbursa — the closest equivalent to a private family holding vehicle in the structure. Recent activity has concentrated on Mexican energy, particularly upstream oil-and-gas partnerships with Pemex, alongside a broad multi-billion-dollar investment commitment in Mexico. Third-generation succession across the family's companies is well underway.
