Abegg & Co AG

Abegg & Co AG is the single family office of Zurich's Bodmer family and one of the oldest such offices in Switzerland. The firm was originally formed in 1885 and converted into a single family office in 1955; it is today owned by the fourth generation of the family. The family's wealth traces to silk manufacturing and trade dating back to the 18th century. The office invests across public and private markets, with a focus on private equity, real estate and public equity. On the public side it invests mainly in publicly traded Swiss companies, using a buy-and-hold strategy. The family was long an industrial stakeholder: as a major shareholder in Huber+Suhner, it sold a 10.1% controlling interest in 2019. Third-party estimates place assets under management at roughly $600 million.
